Authentic Civil War re-enactment photographs. These photographs were all taken at a Public Re-enactment Event, with real Silver Gelatin film, with antique emulsion, and even the developer used is the oldest available,  patented in 1891.  This gives the true look and feel of the photographs of the time, but they are not old, nor do I portray them to be old or Civil War Relics.. The film and chemicals are becoming extinct, and this may be the last  time you ever see a collection of photographs and stereoviews like this.

I beleive this to be the largest collection of stereo photographs captured on silver gelatin of a single event, since the extraordinary 70 photos taken by Alexander Gardner and James Gibson, of the dead at Antietam in 1862.

The  production of these amazing photographs was monumental.  There are 20 Cabinet Card Photos and a whopping 74 Stereoview Cards. All of the re-enactors that I have met ,  go to great lengths and expense,  to bring back the past in exacting detail.  and you deserved something better than a bunch of cheesy digital snapshots of your efforts.

These amazing stereo photos, capture the re-creation of the life of the men and their families during this period in our history.  You won't see alot of posed smiling faces.  This was a troubled time in our past, with lots of greif and pain.  These stereo views are presented in the 1850's true stereo format,  side-by-side , that you can "freeview" on your screen without a viewer.  If you are new to stereo, please see the section on how to view stereo.  Once you have learned to see the magical depth of these photos,  you will be able to browse through the views, and almost step right into the past, smell the smoke, and feel the moment. You will surely want to share these with your freinds, and take them along with you to the next re-enactment , to view in your campsite.

Battle of Townsend's Plantation
